Varnam Vocal Competition Edition-4
Varnam Vocal Competition - 2014 (Edition 4) on 31st August 2014, Sunday from 11 am onwards at Ramana Kendra, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Participants will be asked to sing any one Varnam of their choice and the other of Judge's choice. Varnams are taught to students of Carnatic Music in the initial stages with a view to  give them a strong base and ability to appreciate and understand the intricacy of Ragas.  Recognizing the importance and role of Varnams in shaping a Carnatic Vocal Singer.  In order to encourage learning of Varnams, Ramakrishnapuram South Indian Society  (Regd) has been organizing "Varnam Vocal Competition" since 2011 and 4th Edition of the competition will be held on Sunday, 31st Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi 110003 (behind Sai Baba Mandir) from 11.00 a.m onwards. List of Varnams: Junior(5 Adi Tala & 1 Ata Tala)* & Senior (7Adi Tala & 2 Ata Tala Varnams) ·         Application in the prescribed form has to be submitted on or before 20th August 2014. ·         Juniors should furnish a list of 5 Adi Tala Varnams and 1 Ata Tala Varnam and Seniors should furnish a list of 7 Adi Tala Varnams and 2 Ata Tala Varnams of their choice either in the application or just before the commencement of the competition.
