தமிழ் கணிதவியலாளர்கள் ·         இராமசுவாமி எஸ். வைத்தியநாதசுவாமி அல்லது பொதுவாக ஆர். வைத்தியநாதசுவாமி (Ramaswamy S. Vaidyanathaswamy, 1894 - 1960) சென்னைப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் முதல் கணிதப் பேராசிரியர். ·         அப்பதவி முதன்முதலில் 1919 இல் கணிதமேதை சீனிவாச ராமானுசனுக்காக உண்டாக்கப்பட்டும் அவருடைய உடல்நிலைக் குறைவினாலும் 1920இல் ஏற்பட்ட அவரது அகாலமரணத்தினாலும் அப்பதவியில் அவர் உட்காரவேயில்லை. ·         வைத்தியநாதசுவாமியையும் சென்னை பல்கலைக்கழகம் 'ரீடர்' (Reader) பதவியில தான் வைத்திருந்தது. ஆனால் கணித வட்டாரங்களில் அவர் சென்னைப் பேராசிரியராகத்தான் புழங்கப்பட்டு வந்தார். ·         அவருடைய ஆராய்ச்சி நூல்களில் மிக மிகப்புகழ் பெற்றது "The Theory of Multiplicative Arithmetic Functions" என்ற ஆய்வுமடல் 'Transactions of the American Mathematical Society' இல் வெளியிடப்பட்ட 80-பக்கம் கொண்ட ஆய்வுரை. மேலும் படிக்க
