பொருட்பால்– துறவற இயல்–  அறிவுடைமை(THE POSSESSION OF PRACTICAL WISDOM) கரும வரிசையாற் கல்லாதார் பின்னும் பெருமை யுடையாருஞ் சேறல் - அருமரபின் ஓதம் அரற்றும் ஒலிகடற் றண்சேர்ப்ப! பேதைமை யன்ற தறிவு.   அறிவுடையார் தாங் கருதிய கருமத்தை முடித்தற் பொருட்டுமூடர்பின் சேறல் அறிவின்மை அன்று. பொருள்:     அரு மரபின் ஓதம்அரற்றும் ஒலிகடல் தண் சேர்ப்ப - அரியதன்மையையுடைய அலைகள் முழங்கும் முழக்கமிக்ககடலின் குளிர்ந்த துறைவனே!, கரும வரிசையால் -தொழில் முறைமையினால், கல்லாதார் பின்னும்பெருமையுடையாரும் சேறல் பேதைமையன்று அது அறிவு -கல்வியறிவில்லாத மூடரை யடுத்தும் கல்விப்பெருமையுடைய அறிஞரும் ஒழுகுதல், அறியாமை யன்று; அதுகாலம் இடம் முதலியவற்றிற்கேற்ப ஒழுகும்அறிவுடைமையாகும்.
